FAQ

  • Q. What is 21habit?
  • A. 21habit is a tool that helps people make or break habits.
  • Q. How does 21habit work?
  • A. To get started, first tell us what habit you want to make or break. This creates a 21-day challenge. Check-in each day for the next 21 days to track your progress. You can stop or change the habit (or resolution) at any time.

While you can use 21habit.com for free, we also feature a Committed mode that we think will make you more successful, and also help raise money for charity. In Committed mode, you’re actually investing money towards your challenge. You start by investing $21 from a PayPal account or credit card. Each day you succeed at your habit you get $1 back. Each day you fail you forfeit $1, and we donate that $1 (all of it) to charity. You can stop the challenge at any time, and withdraw any funds not already forfeited. you simply tell us about a habit you'd like to make or break (e.g. "I will not watch TV.") and make a pledge of $21 using your credit card or PayPal account.

  • Q. Can I have multiple habits at the same time?
  • A. Not right now. If that's a feature you want, vote for it by sending us feedback.
  • Q. Can I pledge an amount other than $21?
  • A. Not right now. If that's a feature you want, vote for it by sending us feedback.
  • Q. Can I have a habit that lasts fewer or more than 21 days?
  • A. Not right now. If that's a feature you want, vote for it by sending us feedback.
  • Q. Why would I put money in when I can just track habits without all the money stuff?
  • A. We think people will be more successful making or breaking habits if they've got a little something to lose. We also like the idea of helping charities.
  • Q. Can't I cheat and say I succeeded, even if I didn't, on a certain day?
  • A. Yes, you can cheat (i.e. lie to yourself). 21habit works on the honor system. If you cheat to avoid forfeiting funds then you're also cheating a worthwhile charity. Your choice.
  • Q. Can I cancel a habit in the middle?
  • A. Yes, you can stop in the middle of a habit and get your remaining funds back. Look for the Edit button on the check-in page.
  • Q. Can I get my money back?
  • A. You can withdraw any funds not forfeited at any time by stopping your current habit and visiting your My Account page.
  • Q. What happens if I invest $21 in a habit but then don't check-in for days?
  • A. You have 3 days to check-in for a specific day. If, after 3 days, you haven't checked-in then you will forfeit $1 for that day, and we'll donate that $1 to charity.
  • Q. How can I cancel my account?
  • A. You will find a Delete Account option on the My Account page. Log in to view your My Account page.
  • Q. What if my question isn't answered here?
  • A. Ask us, by sending us feedback.
